Wednesday at noon

Things I am not yet used to… the first Wednesday of the month the city’s air raid and emergency alarm system is fully tested at noon. It’s loud and sudden and sometimes scary.

understanding the weather patterns
the ease of throwing my bag in a car and not having to carry my life on my back
knowing my way around - I've gotten lost on foot too many nights this week, and it's COLD
the ease of finding and picking up a newspaper or magazine
my friends
avocados
clothing sizing that has some sort of continuity and isn't a mixture of Euro, UK, and US - but without distinguishing between the various numbers!
labels I can understand
a familiar grocery store - one where I know where the spice is that I only need to buy once every three years
